We are seeking to hire a candidate for our Temporary Help (9902) Media Relations Department.
Opening Date: 03/03/2026
Closing Date: 03/17/2026
Hourly Rate of Pay: $36.00
Location: SEPTA Headquarters
OVERALL DESCRIPTION
Assist Media Relations Staff by monitoring all news coverage and curate daily news clips report. Provide coverage help during morning commute, process incoming media inquiries and assist with other duties as assigned. This opportunity provides experience in a fast-paced, newsroom-like environment in a Top Five media market.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with coverage of morning commute starting at 6:30 a.m.
- Gather information about disruptions and other service details to help facilitate proactive communications to media as well as responses.
- Monitor breaking SEPTA and related news from all outlets; Gather and curate SEPTA Daily News Clips Report for internal dissemination.
- Answer calls and emails to the Media Relations Department & assist with timely responses.
- Assist with research and writing for press releases and other communications.
- Assist with photography and video as needed.
- Provide logistical and other support to Media Relations Department for press conferences, media availabilities, interviews and other news events.
- Create and curate content for Media Relations channels on social media.
- Perform other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree. Will also consider some college education plus relevant news media or public relations experience.
- Excellent professional writing skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and speaking skills, ability to communicate professionally and comfortably with varied audiences, especially the media.
- Photography and video skills; experience posting photo, video and written content for a news or similar organization a plus.
