We are seeking to hire a candidate for our Subrogation Specialist (6250).    

 

Opening Date: 09/10/2025

Job Grade: SAM 38

Salary Range: $70,668.00-$88,348.00       

OVERALL DESCRIPTION

The Subrogation Specialist is responsible for reviewing potential subrogation claims to determine viability of pursuit, obtaining appliable documentation for demands, monitoring and negotiating claims with third parties.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Manages a large inventory of active recovery files and facilitate timely resolutions with maximum returns.
  2. Reviews incidents and determining liability: Reviewing external and internal reports, and video to determine if a claim appears viable for subrogation.
  3. Collaborates with Intake/Intel professionals as well as field appraisers to ensure that claims files contain the information required to properly investigate and pursue recovery.
  4. Assigns field appraisers to complete damage estimates.
  5. Prepares demand packages to adequately defend liability decision and damage estimates.
  6. Prepares detailed and comprehensive initial reports and follow up reports with concise and effective action plans designed to move the claim towards resolution.
  7. Conducts phone and e-mail communications with claims adjusters and other entities.
  8. Maintains database for accurate tracking of all recoverable claims.
  9. Documents and communicates all claim activity timely and effectively.
  10. Settles claims consistent with planned resolution and in accordance with authority.
  11. Provides outstanding customer service.
  12. Handles claims consistent with SEPTA policies, procedures, and "best practices" and also, in accordance with any statutory, regulatory and ethics requirements.
  13. Performs other duties as assigned by the Property Damage Manager.
     

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree from accredited college and a minimum of three (3) years' experience in Auto/Property damage adjusting/subrogation.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience (one (1) year of post-high school education equating to two (2) years relevant experience) may be considered in lieu of the above-mentioned requirements.
  • Excellent customer service skills, required.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and to handle multiple tasks simultaneously is required.
  • Must be highly organized with strong attention to detail required.
  • Proven communication, negotiation, presentation, and interpersonal skills required.
  • Proficiency in office suite (MS Office Pro: Word, Excel, preferred), email and scheduling; ability to learn company computer systems.
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills, required.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, required.
  • Ability to create positive and collaborative working relationships, required.
