Station Repairer (1002)

OVERALL DESCRIPTION

To perform routine maintenance and basic facility repairs in Subway/Elevated and Surface facilities, depots, shops, and grounds.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Routinely checks facility for repairs as needed. Identifies safety problems and prioritizes necessary ensuring repairs to correct safety problems are accomplished first.
2. Provides preventive maintenance to window air conditioning units, replaces filters and cleans evaporators and condensers. Removes and replaces basic window air conditioning units. Services and cleans exhaust fan units.
3. Makes basic repairs to structures such as steps, platforms, floors, walls, ceilings and partitions.
4. Replaces and reglazes small pane windows. Secures damaged windows until permanent repairs are made.
5. Services and makes basic repairs plumbing fixtures, related parts, and accessories that do not require a license.
6. Cleans and secures lighting fixtures, replaces bulbs, and performs other repairs that do not require a license.
7. Repairs wooden, metal, and masonry fences. Replaces, repairs or installs hasp, keeper, and slide bolts. Replaces or secures anchor bolts. Such repairs will not include welding or brazing.
8. Maintains station, booth, and depo signs. Removes obsolete signs, installs wall mounted and ceiling mounted signs, repairs damaged signs or mountings.
9. Secures or makes basic repairs night latch, hasp, and keeper. hardware and lubricates locks. molding, assembles lockers, and shelves to doors and door jambs. Replaces Makes adjustments to loose Replaces or repairs trim and installs restroom accessories. 
10. Paints out graffiti in surface locations, incidental graffiti removal in the subway. Paints repaired work. Spot primes and paints. Performs touch-up painting work.
11. Performs basic maintenance work on roofs and -awnings, removes debris and foreign objects from roofs. Cleans roof drains and drain screens.
12. Barricades, cleans and clears work area; carries material, tools and supplies as required.
13. Operates and services assigned Authority vehicle; checks mileage and fluids, fuels vehicle, and maintains daily report of vehicle operating condition.
14. Completes reports and records as necessary.
15. Works on emergency snow/ice clearing assignments as assigned.
16. Directs activities of employees of lower classifications as assigned; assists employees of higher classifications as assigned.
17. Uses hand and hand held power tools pertinent to work assignment.
18. Complies with all Authority and departmental safety and security policies and procedures, as well as all applicable job safety responsibilities. Reports any safety concerns, compromises, or hazards in the immediate working environment to supervision and takes initiative to alleviate potential and existing hazards affecting self and other employees; is responsible for the individual’s own safety and is encouraged to promote the safety of others.  
19. Performs other duties related to the performance of the job.
     

ADDITIONAL SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• High School Diploma or Equivalent 
• Must successfully complete written qualification tests and performance tests.
• Must have previous experience in performing basic carpentry, painting, masonry, mechanical, and plumbing.
• Must possess PA Class II Driver's License or equivalent.
• Requires normal use of all limbs, agility, and lifting.
