We are seeking to hire a candidate for our Staff Accountant (5031) Accounts Payable.    

 

Opening Date: 12/05/2025

Closing Date: 12/19/2025

Job Grade: SAM 37

Salary Range: $63,700.00-$79,612.00       

OVERALL DESCRIPTION

Responsible for upporting the accuracy and integrity of Accounts Payable related financial records, and oversight of accounts payable as well as general accounting duties.

 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assists in the development and implementation of policies and procedures in the accounts payable department and provides guidance and support to Accounts Payable clerks.
  2. Maintains appropriate records and other source data to facilitate the processing of accounts payable invoices, various management reports and other detailed financial analysis as assigned.
  3. Monitors the receipt and distribution of vendor invoices, Requests for Payments & Other Expense Reimbursements, Capital Project payments, electronic and other Authority disbursements.
  4. Ensures that daily check number and payment date controls have been accurately updated.
  5. Monitors invoice inputs to ensure that invoice entry rejects and payment duplicates are properly addressed and corrected as necessary.
  6. Supports internal and external audit requests by providing documentation and explanations.
  7. Assists with month-end and year end closing by preparing AP accruals and account reconciliations.
  8. Monitors key performance indicators to track team performance. Identifies and recommends improvements to AP processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  9. Stays informed about changes in accounting regulations and best practices in accounts payable management.
  10. Familiarizes with the Accounts Payable Vendor Specialist duties to provide backup support when needed.
  11. Complies with all Authority and departmental safety and security policies and procedures as well as all applicable job safety responsibilities. Reports any safety concerns, compromises or hazards affecting operations, the public self and/or other employees. Responsible for personal safety and is encouraged to promote the safety of others.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned. 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting, (or related field) and two (2) or more years’ experience in general accounting required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to accomplishing assigned duties on time required.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication and analytical skills required.

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Previous experience in Accounts Payable or a similar financial environment preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Team-oriented and focus on collaboration and continuous improvement preferred.
