We are seeking to hire a candidate for our Senior Director Of Maintenance (7279).

Salary Range: $125,762.00-$157,196.00
OVERALL DESCRIPTION
Directs the activity of subordinate staff to achieve the maximum level of productivity, quality, reliability, and safety for the Bridges and Buildings section. Responsible for the inspection, maintenance and renewal of SEPTA's Infrastructure systems, fixed plant, and equipment. Interprets and administers programs and procedures in accordance with approved policies.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Directs inspection and maintenance of all types of buildings, shops, stations, and structures.
- Oversees the programmatic preventive maintenance and repair of major mechanical and electrical systems including pumps, compressors, generators, boilers, HVAC, escalators, elevators, cranes, sprinklers, etc. Supervises the use, maintenance, calibration and control of all tools, test equipment, and machinery at location. Ensures that sufficient tools, test equipment and machinery are available to efficiently perform all required tasks.
- Reviews work in progress and takes necessary action to correct unusual equipment and maintenance problems.
- Assures the timely execution of work orders and emergency service calls.
- Manages force account construction projects, construction programs and other special projects.
- Manages physical plant elements to assure compliance with System Safety and regulatory agency mandates. Assures all safety standards and code requirements are met for SEPTA facilities. Participates in Location Safety Committee(s).
- Promotes and enforces safe working conditions in accordance with accepted safety practices and procedures.
- Plans and directs the activity of the hourly Bridges & Buildings maintenance and construction workforce. Interpret and apply several individual labor agreements so as to maximize productivity. Defines, implements and monitors workforce productivity standards.
- Develops an on-going maintenance plan for Bridges & Buildings' systems based on an assessment of maintenance needs, routine inspections, preventative maintenance, planned major repairs, and emergency response capabilities.
DISCIPLINE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Meets with customer base (Transportation/Maintenance Directors and Chief Officers) to establish priorities and monitor response to customer needs.
- Manages and provides oversight of the Labor Relations function for CTD B&B. Assure consistent interpretation, application, and enforcement of all labor contracts. Discusses complaints and grievances with employees and their union representatives attempting to resolve issues in accordance with accepted Labor Relations practices. Resolve informal disputes through negotiations and participate in the Grievance Procedure as required.
- Takes an active part in the recruitment of new SAM employees, interviews and selects applicants to assure that highest quality people are hired.
- Develops the managerial, technical and leadership skills of the supervisory staff.
- Responsible for controlling employee attendance, overtime, injury rate and lost time due to sickness, excused hours, and other reasons. Responsible for maintaining staffing levels to satisfy performance requirements without excessive overtime.
- Develops programs to assure that vehicle maintenance shop facilities and equipment are fully functional to support revenue and non-revenue fleet availability.
- Develops, implements and supervises detailed maintenance procedures.
- Develops performance and quality standards to measure performance and to determine manpower and material forecasts.
- Develops a technically skilled, efficient, well trained and motivated workforce. Provides formal on the job training programs.
- Complies with all authority and departmental safety and security policies and procedures as well as applicable job safety responsibilities. Report safety concerns, compromises, or hazards affecting operations to the public, self and or other employees. Responsible for personal safety and is encouraged to promote the safety of others.
- Performs other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's Degree and ten (10) years of relevant technical (maintenance, production, engineering or design) experience which includes a minimum of five (5) years supervisory experience required.
- An equivalent combination of experience and advanced education (two (2) years of related experience, equating to One (1) year of formal post high school education) may be considered in lieu of the above requirements.
- Valid Driver's License required.
- Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills required.
- Computer literacy required.
