We are seeking to hire a candidate for our Occupational Health Clinical Specialist (9155).

Job Grade: SAM 42

Salary Range: $104,000.00-$130,000.00       

OVERALL DESCRIPTION

The Occupational Health Clinical Specialist will be responsible for supporting the Authority’s health, wellness and safety objectives through the coordination and performance of  occupational and non-occupational health screenings, illness evaluation, drug screenings, wellness, first aid, disability management, and return to work evaluations.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Ensure the fitness for duty of the Authority’s workforce, utilizing 
    • Pre-placement examinations (including job transfers) 
    • Return to duty examinations following absence for illness or injury 
    • Periodic examinations 
    • Other evaluations as needed in specific cases 
    • Ongoing medical monitoring of safety-sensitive employees with conditions that may affect their performance 
    • Medical surveillance programs
  2. Provides support as needed for resolution of ADA, FMLA, Unemployment, Workers Compensation and FELA claims and any other medical matters 
  3. Recommends and administers comprehensive wellness and preventive health programs, utilizing appropriate: 
    • Education 
    • Screening tests 
    • Immunizations 
    • Incentive-based behavior modification programs 
    • Coordination with the Authority’s health insurance carriers and community resources 
    • Volunteer employees
  4. Responsible for the medical recordkeeping system. Ensures efficient and secure operation of the medical record room, compliance with regulations and Authority policy on medical privacy.
  5. Supervises the Medical Librarian. 
  6. Complies with all Authority and departmental safety and security policies and procedures as well as all applicable job safety responsibilities. Reports any safety concerns, compromised or hazards affecting operations, the public, self and/or other employees. Responsible for personal safety and is encouraged to promote the safety of others.
  7. Performs other duties as assigned and directed

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Must possess and maintain current licensure and certification as either a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with at least three years related clinical experience  in an ambulatory care, occupational health, or emergency department setting.
  • A nurse practitioner must possess and maintain current national certifications as a Nurse Practitioner, licensure to practice nursing in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and possess a BSN and MSN. A physician assistant must possess and maintain current national certifications as a Physician Assistant, licensure to practice as a Physician Assistant in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania following graduation from an accredited physician assistant program. 
  • Current certification as an FMCSA certified medical examiner preferred. Willingness to become certified within six (6) months of hire date.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills required.    
  • Extensive organizational skills and the ability to interact with all levels of SEPTA management, union representatives, private corporations, public entities, consultants and other project managers required.
