Maintenance Custodian/Driver (0900/0901/0903)
The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) is the sixth largest transportation system in the United States, with a vast network of fixed route services including bus, subway/elevated, trackless trolley, light rail, and commuter rail serving a 2,200 square mile service region.
We are seeking candidates for the position of Maintenance Custodian/Driver (0900/0901/0903) in various departments.
OVERALL DESCRIPTION
Sweeps, cleans, washes interior and exterior of vehicles. Operates passenger vehicle in and around Authority locations. Cleans shop areas, stations, restrooms and other areas as required. Performs other duties including scrapping, painting and loading trash.
Starting Rate of Pay: $17.38 TO $17.66; After 3 months, the range is $19.44 - $19.75; After 3 years, the range is $23.17 - $23.53. (paid weekly)
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILTIES
- Must be proficient in the cleaning of vehicles and all areas of the locations listed above, including but not limited to shop areas, restrooms, administrative areas, etc.
- Operates passenger vehicle in and around the Authority locations.
- Scrapes and cleans floors, walls, walks, and all SEPTA facilities.
- Paints various items as required, such as shop equipment, facilities, etc.
- Sweeps, cleans, washes vehicle interior, exteriors.
- Polices premises for debris, trash and scrap; loads into truck for removal.
- Complies with all Authority and departmental safety and security policies and procedures as well as all applicable job safety responsibilities. Reports any safety concerns, compromises or hazards affecting operations, the public, self and/or other employees. Responsible for personal safety and is encouraged to promote the safety of others.
ADDITIONAL SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILTIES
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Must have ability to understand and execute written and verbal orders.
- Most positions require a valid Pennsylvania driver's license or equivalent. · A CDL class B license with a passenger endorsement (with no restrictions) is required for operating a SEPTA vehicle in the bus garages. If you do not have a CDL class B permit or Commercial Driver's license, you will need to obtain a CDL Class B permit at the end of your 30 days training. Some positions, specifically in the Stations Department, do not require driver's licenses.
- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
