We are seeking candidates for the position of HVAC Automotive Equip Specialist (0620) in the AEE&M/City Vehicle Maintenance.
OVERALL DESCRIPTION
Maintains, troubleshoots and repairs HVAC Systems on SEPTA's bus and rail vehicles.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Troubleshoots, repair, and maintains vehicle climate control systems, repairs or replaces components as require.
- Performs overhauls on HVAC system including removal and replacement of system components.
- Performs A/C System refrigerant conversions on vehicle HVAC systems.
- Diagnoses and repairs/replaces electrical, electronic systems and microprocessor based on control systems and components within the HVAC system. Diagnose and repairs/replaces drive system for A/C compressors including DC Motors, pony engines, power take-offs, drive shafts, etc.

ADDITIONAL SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma or equivalent and two (2) years training at an accredited Technical School or equivalent. In lieu of technical school training, five (5) years practical experience in a related field may be substituted.
- Must be First Class Qualified Vehicle & Equipment Mechanic.
- Must satisfactorily complete written qualifications tests specific to this job description and performance tests as required.
- Must be certified to use and handle refrigerant.
- Must possess valid Pennsylvania Class “B”, CDL or equivalent.
IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Experience working on mass transit vehicles preferred.
