We are seeking to hire candidates for our District Typist-Clerk (8453).    

Starting Rate of Pay: $23.27 | Top Rate of Pay $31.03 

OVERALL DESCRIPTION

Under general supervision of District Director, performs administrative duties including but not limited to, composing, filing, photocopying and maintaining various records.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Prepares various departmental notices and forms such as seniority lists, window and picking letters, interview lists, grievances, requisitions, etc. on personal computer.  Maintains files of same.  Completes updates to SHARES/CAPES/TRAPEZE when required.
  2. Prepares Change of Status transactions to effect progression increases in accordance with Wage Rate Manuals, job changes, address changes, merit raises or other events necessitating submission of a Change of Status.
  3. Maintains confidential work records of District “A” and “B” payroll and hourly employees.
  4. Prepares and maintains various records and/or files pertaining to District personnel, including vacation, holiday time, yearly graduations, etc.
  5. Receives, records uniform requests; prepares order requisitions and payroll deduction requests; checks incoming materials. Notifies supplier of discrepancies and/or cancellations. Composes letters to suppliers and obtains signature from Director/Assistant Director. Processes and sends forms to appropriate department when necessary. 
  6. Prepares payroll for District supervisory and clerical personnel. Posts/verifies/records hours worked, allowances, deviations. Determines/applies proper charge codes. 
  7. Receives/sorts/files various reports including but not limited to accident reports, supervisor reports, lateness allowances, etc. 
  8. Answers phones; receives and records messages. 
  9. Complies with all Authority and departmental safety and security policies and procedures as well as all applicable job safety responsibilities.  Reports any safety concerns, compromises or hazards affecting operations, the public, self and/or other employees.  Responsible for personal safety and is encouraged to promote the safety of others.
  10. Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

ADDITIONAL SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.  Typing minimum of 45 wpm.  Previous PC computer experience.
  • General knowledge of transportation organization, including transportation terms and phrases, routes operated, Authority and departmental rules and regulations. Must become proficient with various computer systems/programs (Microsoft Office/Excel/Mainframe/CAPES/TRAPEZE).  Must learn routine district operations.

EQUIPMENT USED:

  • Personal computer, Calculator, Photocopier, Telephone.

PHYSICAL:

  • Sitting 70%, Standing and Moving About 30%

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Normal office environment
