We are seeking to hire candidates for our Designer II (9124) - Automotive Support.

Job Grade: SAM 37

Salary Range: $63,700.00-$79,612.00       

OVERALL DESCRIPTION

This position is responsible for undertaking engineering assignments that are considered to be of “nominal complexity” in size and scope. This position is further responsible to provide technical support and direction for engineering activities including the definition and coordination for design review and implementation, establishing inspection plans, program/project development and consulting, statistical methods, audits, and continuous improvement approaches to ensure activities are consistent with SEPTA mission values and goals.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

General

  1. Consults with senior level engineer/supervision in project definition.
  2. Exercises good judgment in application of basic engineering and quality assurance principles.
  3. Assists in the preparation of budgets for proposed projects and work to be accomplished through third party.
  4. General written memoranda, technical reports, specifications, audits, etc. in a professional manner.
  5. Interfaces with Governmental Agencies and, as necessary, other transit Authorities concerning pertinent matters.
  6. Adapts to team efforts where indicated in resolution of matters not suitable for singular contribution.
  7. Complies with all Authority and departmental safety and security policies and procedures as well as all applicable job safety responsibilities. Reports any safety concerns, compromises or hazards affecting operations, the public self and/or other employees. Responsible for personal safety and is encouraged to promote the safety of others.

 

Vehicle Engineering Disciplines

  1. Provides technical assistance to vehicle maintenance personnel upon request.
  2. Oversees any vehicular reporting assignments which pertain to assigned tasks.
  3. Defines, implement, and document new or more effective maintenance procedures for an assigned fleet of vehicles.
  4. Administers bus operation technology systems including AVM, Infotainment, ASAS, Passenger Wi-Fi, analytical systems, program deployment and authentication systems.
  5. Utilizes computerized maintenance records and systems as an aid in resolving issues related to vehicle system fault or malfunction.
  6. Provides management with operational data-driven reports that will establish and track efficiency of project(s) and provide basis for management decisions.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or related discipline required. 
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience (two years of related experience equating to one year of post High School education), may be considered in lieu of the above requirements.
  • Good written, verbal and interpersonal skills required.
  • Computer skills required. Must be proficient in MS software applications, including Excel, Access, Outlook and Word.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
