We are seeking to hire candidates for our Control Center Training Officer (4040).

Job Grade: SAM 38

Salary Range: $70,668.00-$88,348.00       

OVERALL DESCRIPTION

Manages all aspects of the Control Center training and compliance program. Develops and delivers training materials for new hires and current employees across all modes of operation. Trains and evaluates all new Control Center managers on applicable policies, procedures, rules, and regulations to ensure operational readiness and compliance.

Conducts performance assessments using a variety of methods, including visual observation, live radio and telephone monitoring, recorded audio review, and scenario-based testing. Develops written exams and customized assessment tools to measure knowledge, decision-making, and adherence to standards. Ensures ongoing competency and supports continuous improvement initiatives throughout the Control Center.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Manages the recertification, training, and re-training classes for all current and new employees.
  2. Researches and evaluates existing operational policies, practices, and strategies, and provides recommendations on improvements.
  3. Consults with SEPTA personnel and outside agencies to research and update department best practices.
  4. Researches and utilizes technology to create a more efficient training program and improve departmental functions.
  5. Coordinates with other SEPTA Divisions/Departments and outside agencies as required.
  6. Updates computer and manual reference files, procedures and schedules.
  7. Maintains training and re-certification records for all Control Center Managers.
  8. Ensures that all policies, procedures and regulations of the Control Center, the Authority and outside governing agencies are followed.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 3 years of direct experience with two (2) years in a mass transit operations.
  • An equivalent combination of experience and education i.e., two (2) years of related experience, may be considered in lieu of the above requirements.
  • Ability to identify training needs by evaluating students' strengths and weakness.
  • Experience in mentoring and coaching as a subject matter expert which includes informal and formal feedback to all trainees, required.
  • Must possess the ability to manage simultaneous responsibilities in a diverse and demanding work environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Strong analytical and well-developed interpersonal skills required.
  • Must possess acceptable attendance record, performance, and safety record. A review of employees work record will be part of the interview selection process.
  • Must be able to work, day, night, overnight shifts, weekends, and/or Holidays.
  • Proficient PC and Microsoft Office skills necessary for creating and generating reports, required.

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in developing, organizing, and successfully implementing lesson plans/training programs according to operational needs preferred.
  • Experience in facilitating training programs for incident command control, transportation logistics, and /or emergency response roles preferred.
  • All individuals selected for an interview will be required to deliver a brief PowerPoint presentation (5-7 minutes) on a subject of their choice related to training, compliance, or operations. Candidates will present the PowerPoint presentation during the interview and may be asked follow-up questions.
