OVERALL DESCRIPTION
SEPTA's Contract Operations Department, which provides small bus service in University City / West Philadelphia (Lucy), Bensalem (Cornwells Heights RRD Train Station Circular) and Horsham (Horsham Breeze), is seeking individuals who are interested in working full-time as small bus operators.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Hours are flexible and varied, depending on the needs of the service.
- The full-time positions require a minimum of 40 hours per weeks.
- The ideal candidate will be available to work a wide range of hours or is available to work consistently for fixed period of times (i.e. AM shifts or one/two days a week).
- Complies with all Authority and departmental safety and security policies and procedures as well as all applicable job safety responsibilities. Reports any safety concerns, compromises or hazards affecting operations, the public, self and/or other employees. Responsible for personal safety and is encouraged to promote the safety of others.
ADDITIONAL SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Must have a valid Driver’s License with the ability to obtain a CDL Class B with passenger and air brake endorsements.
- A minimum of 3 years licensed driving experience.
- Clean driving record in the last 3 years.
- Ability to successfully complete employment interview, employment history verification, criminal background check, and medical examination including drug and alcohol screening.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, split days off, especially during first two years of employment. Required to be available for all shifts.
- Commitment to safety and excellent customer service.
- Candidates without a high school diploma or GED must complete and pass a standardized assessment to qualify for this position.
CDL/CDL Permit Requirements
- If offered the position after interview, candidates will be required to present either a Class B or Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a passenger endorsement with no restrictions for driving vehicles with air brakes.
- No CDL or Permit - You will be required to obtain a CDL permit (preferably Class B) before your tentative start date.
