We are seeking to hire candidates for our Assistant Director Custodial Services (4028) - Vehicles.

Salary Range: $89,908.00-$112,398.00
OVERALL DESCRIPTION
Responsible for planning and supervising all custodial services activities for designated location(s) and enforcing established operating policies and procedures in the Custodial Services Department.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervises all Custodial Services Managers to ensure the proper deployment of all Maintenance Custodians, and Wash-down Crews within the Rail Transportation Department. Provides coordination and oversight of general mechanics when they are assigned maintenance activities in the station areas.
- Plans for proper personnel coverage during normal operations, special events, and coordinates with other departments when emergencies and service disruptions occur.
- Plans and monitors the scheduling of work assignments by managers to ensure completion of all necessary cleaning and light maintenance work within all designated stations.
- Monitors cleanliness and maintenance of stations and ensures that all equipment is in proper working order. Responsible for managing equipment inventory for designated zone/stations.
- Directs development and implementation of reporting procedures to lend visibility to all aspects of station conditions.
- Works closely with System Safety, and the established safety committees to ensure custodial work is performed in a safe manner. Develops and implements safety programs and enforces safety policies and procedures.
- Works closely with Service Supervision, Control Room Managers, and the Control Center to ensure delivery of service information to passengers concerning alternate transportation during service disruptions.
- Manages 3rd party contractors hired to perform high-bay and other types of station/facility cleaning.
- Ensures Maintenance Custodians comply with all SEPTA Policies and Procedures, Rail Transportation work rules, and governmental regulations that pertain to Subway-Elevated.
- Works with Human Resources, System Safety, and Division’s Admin Department to ensure proper staffing levels of SAM and hourly employees.
- Develops and implements a program of inspection and response for handling customer and in-house complaints related to station conditions.
- Responsible for hearing 1st and 2nd level grievance proceedings.
- Enforces Authority Policies and Labor Agreements.
- Ensures accurate and timely delivery of attendance deviation point computation for union employees.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma plus eleven (11) years of Transportation Industry experience which includes a minimum of seven (7) years of Custodial experience and four (4) years in Custodial Operations Supervisory/Management required.
- An equivalent combination of advanced education (one year of formal education equating to two (2) years of experience) may be considered in lieu of the above requirements.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Must be available to work outside of normal duty hours (7 days a week, 24 hours a day). Must be able to work the day or night shift, weekends, holidays, emergencies, and/or special events.
- Must be qualified on the CTD/STD Roadway Worker Operating Rules within three (3) months of hire.
- Experience with SEPTA mainframe and PC based systems for payroll, personnel management, and stock and non-stock material requisitioning and inventory control (preferred).
- Knowledge of SEPTA payroll functions including timesheet management and entry, seasonal scheduling, and picking file maintenance related functions (preferred).
- Experience with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word
